Miami's Mr. Mandolin Makes a Connection with their Online Guests

Mehmet Erkaya is the General Manager of Mr. Mandolin in Miami. Mr. Mandolin is the fast casual spinoff of Mandolin Aegean Bistro, a long time favorite amongst Miami foodies. The mission of Mr. Mandolin is to bring the abundant flavors of Turkey and Greece to South Florida. They are a full service restaurant, with about 50% of their business coming from delivery.

Customer Community

A tight knit community has developed around Mr. Mandolin. Most of their customers are regulars who they know by name and face. Mehmet explains, “when we look at the orders we know the person. When I see their name I know this person is going to order this.” It is a pleasure for their staff and customers to develop these relationships. 

 

When using third party delivery apps, it was a huge disadvantage to lose access to the customers’ name or information on each order. With Sauce, their customer data is all theirs. They are able to know who is ordering so that they can provide that same level of community care even when the order is heading out for pickup or delivery. Since launching with Sauce, they have seen many of their regular customers convert from ordering through the third party apps to ordering directly through Sauce. 

 

Mehmet is always looking to improve the Mr Mandolin operation. The feedback tool through Sauce’s customer interface allows customers to provide reviews for their experience. “Everyday we are trying to be a better restaurant,” explains Mehmet. “The only way you can be a better restaurant is with customer feedback and Sauce allows us to get this feedback.”

Wider Reach

Another huge benefit to using Sauce has been that Mr. Mandolin’s delivery radius has increased to 20 miles. This grows their market reach in a huge way and broadcasts their brand to a much wider audience. He notes “with Sauce our reach is much wider now. That helps with business for more people to know about or food… If we can deliver the food to the area we couldn't [previously] reach, it's like a free promotion for us.”

Aegean Hospitality

Providing an excellent customer experience is central to Mr. Mandolin’s brand. It is a value that is baked into the culture of the food they serve. Sauce has allowed them to excel in that pursuit. Mehmet says, “When I think of Sauce I think of hospitality. It's very important for us to connect to our guests, hear their voices, get their feedback and Sauce allows us to be able to accomplish this.”
