Sauce has Brooklyn based Shelsky’s looking like Rock Stars

Peter Shelksy opened Shelsky’s Smoked Fish in 2011, which eventually led to Shelsky’s of Brooklyn: Appetizing & Delicatessen. Shelsky’s sells all the delicious food you normally find on a bagel: smoked salmon, lox, smoked white fish, pickled herring, cream cheese, etc.

The Grind

Peter admits that running a business in New York is not easy. “Costs are through the roof, rent is astronomical,” he says. It’s a tough game! When Sauce came to them, they had already been unhappy with the delivery platforms they had been utilizing. Some of them were charging between 25-30% on commission fees. Peter says that those kinds of fees make it literally impossible to make any money on those orders. Furthermore, they had no accountability with the third parties. You’re just a number in their system. “We needed something better, and Sauce was something better,” says Peter.

The Sauce Saves the Day

With Sauce, Shelsky’s has seen savings in many ways; first of all with the fee structure. Not paying a percentage commission fee has brought huge savings to Shelsky’s. Beyond that he explains, “the support team at Sauce means that if I have an issue, I can shoot a text or shoot an email and get a response almost immediately and have them on it.” Rather than going back and forth with his customer, he’s able to trust that Sauce is dealing with it. “Time is money and I cannot tell you how much that saves me. You can’t even quantify it… And the best thing is that we come out looking like rock stars to the customers!” says Peter.

Best Foot Forward

Many of Shelsky’s customers are regular customers that have been coming to the store for years. Now they’re placing their orders online with Sauce. Peter says he feels comfortable with that knowing Sauce has his back. “I feel like they’re putting my best foot forward for me.”
